Avocados from our family to yours

Kimball Avocados is a family owned and operated farm based in the Heritage Valley outside of Santa Paula, California.

“This is the best avocado I have ever had!” For years this has been the response to our fruit at events around the world as well as from friends across the county. Raised on rocky hills ideal for the Hass variety, our avocados are allowed to ripen naturally, free from the cold storage used by all commercial distributors. Such storage, necessary for the mass market, interrupts ripening and mutes the fruit’s full flavor. We, however, pick and ship the fruit on the same day, so its flavor is allowed to develop fully and you can enjoy avocados at their very best.

Our family has been farming in Ventura County for six generations. Kimball Ranches - El Hogar was purchased by Gordon Kimball, his wife Nancy and his sister Margaret in 1984. Gordon manages the day to day operations on the ranch while Margaret oversees Ranch 2, our smaller experimental and high-density planting. Gordon’s daughter, Rachael, joined the operation in July 2017 as Assistant Ranch Manager and is leading the online sales business.

The Kimball roots run deep in Ventura County and the family takes great pride in being a part of the farming legacy. The family is active in many local organizations which advocate for farming in our county as well as make this a great place to live. Gordon is Chairman of the Board of the Limoneira Company and a Stakeholder Director on the local Groundwater Sustainability Agency. Rachael was recently elected as a Director for the California Avocado Commission while Margaret is the Membership Director for the local chapter of California Women for Agriculture.

We care passionately about growing the very best avocados we can and we want to share them with you!
