FAQ

+ How should I care for my avocados once they have arrived?

Keep your avocados on your counter until they start to turn black. Once they have, you can put them in the fridge to hold them a few days longer if you’re not ready to use them all at once.

+ How do I know when my avocados are ready?

Your avocados will be ready to eat once they have turned black and yield to a soft touch around the stem.

+ How long will my avocados take to ripen?

It all depends! Early in the season, the avocados may take as long as two weeks to ripen, while towards late summer this may be as short as four days. Keep a close eye on them!

+ How can I get my avocados to ripen faster?

There is no immediate ‘ripen now’ solution but putting them in a brown paper bag with a banana will certainly help speed up the ripening process.

+ Why are your avocados so expensive?

Because they are the best! Each avocado is hand harvested for you by our team. We then sort through to select only the largest and most premium avocados to send to you. The price includes 3 to 5 day shipping with UPS to make sure you get the avocados just as ripening is beginning.

+ Your avocados taste so much better than anything I can buy at the store, why is that?

We believe because the avocados are picked and shipped on the same day, they are allowed to ripen completely naturally. They never go into cold storage which halts the ripening process so the flavour is able to fully develop. That and the California sunshine!

+ If there is something wrong with my avocados, what should I do?

If you are not happy with the avocados you receive, let us know and we’ll send you another box. Just drop us an email at Rachael@kimballavocados.com telling us what the problem is and we’ll take care of it.

+ When are your avocados available?

We usually start picking in March and will harvest throughout the summer. Depending on the crop size, we can stretch picking into October or sometimes even as late as November. We will only send avocados when we know we can send the best.

+ Your avocados are showing out of stock, why can’t I order them?

We pride ourselves on providing only the best avocados so if they’re out of stock it’s because we can’t send you the very best. Harvest is usually March through October.

+ Can we come visit your ranch?

Food Safety regulations strictly control visitors. However, if you’re going to be in the area, drop us an email as we’d love to schedule some time to show you around - rachael@kimballavocados.com.
