 Our most valuable asset

At Kimball Ranches – El Hogar, we are a family.  We work shoulder to shoulder on a daily basis to run the ranch in the best and most efficient way possible.  We don’t outsource any of our operations and our team are employed year round, irrigating, weeding, pruning and picking.  We pride ourselves on a passionate commitment to excellence. Long-time service is the norm among us, with 30 year careers not unusual.

We believe our people are our most valuable asset.

Ricardo Medina – Foreman

Ricardo joined our team in 2004 and quickly showed he had an aptitude for understanding the trees and how the ranch worked. When Luis announced his plans to retire, Ricardo was the natural choice to succeed him. Having shown leadership qualities throughout the years and being a well-liked and respected member of the team, it made the transition to foreman seamless. Ricardo took the reins of the ranch in September 2018 and has overseen the mammoth replanting task. He has done so with ease, often juggling irrigation at Ranch 2 with fertilizing the new trees and overseeing as many as three teams across the ranch.

Victor Arenas – Chief Irrigator

Victor is one of our longest standing team members, having joined us full-time in 1989. His role is critical to keeping our trees healthy as he is responsible for managing, maintaining and repairing the irrigation system. Managing 40 miles of irrigation tubing is no easy task. Add to that coyotes, bears, deer, squirrels and chipmunks that all love to play with the hoses and sprinklers… the job can seem never ending!

Roberto Santos

Roberto has worked for us seasonally for a number of years and joined our team full time in 2018. He is highly skilled with a chainsaw and has a great aptitude for the skid steer. At the moment, Roberto is often found operating the stump grinder and auger throughout the ranch as we prepare for further replanting.

Manuel Santos

Manuel has worked for us seasonally in the past and we were lucky when he decided to join us full time in the late summer of 2018. As Roberto’s brother, he came highly recommended and is a great addition. Manuel has excellent experience in laying out orchards, and his assistance as we prepared ground for planting was invaluable.

Luis Cazares

Luis was part of the team that planted the ranch in the late 70’s and he was the Ranch Foreman from day one. His passion and dedication shined every day as he mentored, guided and led our team until his retirement in August 2018. We were lucky to have Luis at the helm for so long.

Gabino Rocha

Gabino worked for Kimball Ranches longer than anyone else, first joining us in 1986 before becoming employed full-time in 1989. He was with us through two fires, multiple freezes and bumper crops. He retired in 2022 and we remain grateful for his contributions through five decades.
